View this person on FamilySearch to see this information.   Additional information: LifeSketch:Mary Buss was born on 17 May 1813, and was christened on 20 June 1813, at Ticehurst, Sussex, England [1]. Mary was the child of a liason that her mother Sophia Buss had with a Samuel Standing, in about 1812. Whether this had been a long relationship or fleeting, it would appear that her parents were never married, even though Mary named her mother on the Immigration record (possibly for propriety sake & to save confusion). When Mary was nearly 18 months old, Sophia married William Watts on October 3, 1814 at Ticehurst, Sussex, England [2] Mary's step siblings were Sophia (Watts) Mannering, William Watts, Jane (Watts) Polhill, Ann (Watts) Badans, Matilda (Watts) Badans, James Watts, Edward Watts, John Watts, Elizabeth Watts, Hannah Watts, Henry Watts, Emma Watts, Harry Watts, Daniel Watts and Jessie Watts. Mary married Edwin Vidler on 9 August 1834 in Sandhurst, Kent, England[3]. In 1838 she and her husband migrated to Australia, on the ship "Maitland", arriving at Sydney on 6 November of that year[4]. Their children were, Henry Vidler, Mary (Vidler) Richardson, Sophia (Vidler) Purkiss, Edwin Arthur Ernest Vidler, Ann (Vidler) Snell, William Henry Vidler, Caroline (Vidler) Chidley, Mercy Vidler, John J.P Vidler and James Reuben Vidler, who were all born in Australia. Mary died on 11 April 1901 at Jamberoo, New South Wales, Australia.[5] '''Note:''' ''In the migration records, it is clearly stated that Samuel Standing was the father of Mary (Buss) Vidler [4], even though her Step-father William (Watts) was recorded as her Father on her death Certificate. As her husband Edwin had predeceased her in 1895, it is possible that the informant who registered her death, did not know the circumstances of her birth so entered the name of the man they would always have known to be her father, William Watts, as it was he who had taken on the role of parent.''
